Summer 2018 Grown Up Bucket List: Things To Do , See And Try

Image: Skates on board- Showing things for grown-up to do and try for this summer

Oh hello, summer so glad you are here. Although it has felt like you've been around for weeks already due to the early heat waves here in Texas. I do not know about you guys, but we've seen lots of 100 degree days. With that being said I am amping up my bucket list this summer, and yes it filled with all the good stuff for us grown-ups to do. So get ready to kick the bucket into to summer fun and relaxation? Here goes nothing hope you can find something in my crazy list that is
relatable?

You have just entered into the no kids allowed zone. Although children always welcomed to hang with us adults, please do not fall for the cuteness when it's your turn to head out of the house for a little fun.

Let's Go
The Skate House: Who says skates are just for the tiny tots. No way no how, so grab those roller blades and head to your nearest roller rink for some old school shenanigans. It's a great way to relax and also lose a few inches around the waist. If you do not want to go on family night, call ahead to check for less busy times and days that are for adults only. Trust me skating is so much fun and its budget-friendly. Depending on your location the cost is only 5 to 6 bucks.

Movies Outside: Do you guys remember drive-in theatres? Ok, that was a thing when I was growing up. Now, its a big thing going around where you can bring blankets and watch movies outside on the lawn. If you live in Dallas, you know what I am talking about, but if not a quick search will land you a few places that do outside movies. If all else fails try going inside to a movie by yourself, with no distractions from any of the kiddos. This is a fantastic day date, girlfriend or couples date idea.

Staycation or Daycation: I've already booked a stay in the city with my husband so we can have a little fun away without really being away. If you do not have summer plans book a cute luxury hotel pack your bags and go. Most hotels now are set up like a resort with spas, pools, Starbucks and other adult festivities around. You really will feel the joy of being in another city. Sometimes all we need as adults is a little mini vacation away from work and home.

The Coffee House: This is on the top of my list. I love a fancy coffee place to relax and sit quietly and work on my computer. Coffe spots have come a long way from only getting a 6 dollar drink. You can order food, they have book sections and even poetry night and sometimes bands playing. So find a coffee hut that doesn't just sell cups of hot coffee.

Curbside Shopping: Summer is the best time to do a little curb, thrift or estate sale shopping. Rise up early and head out to grab some trash to treasure items. I find this to be relaxing and fun to do by myself or with a friend. Don't knock it till you've tried it. :)

Try New Adventures: I plan to try a few things that I've never done before such as hiking, bungee jumping, and zip lining. I am not an outdoor person, but this year my bucket list is full of things that will cause a sweat attack. So, add at least one of these to your bucket list of plans.

Road Trip: If you do not have a full vacation planned then plan a quick road trip to visit the next city closes to you. Go ahead travel in your own city, it's FUN. :)

Start  A New Hobby: One of my favorite things to do is make jewelry. But I would love to try my hand at knitting. This would be a great thing for someone who wants to learn a new side hustle. Most local craft shops offer free classes or have a small fee involved. You can learn a quick craft over the summer, from cake making, accessories such as handbags, painting and more. Check your local hobby lobby or Michaels stores. There may be someone in your community offering classes. Check with your area YMCA also.

Museums: Let's face it the art gallery is not just for kids at all. As a matter of fact, when I take my smaller kids, I am more interested in all the fantastic pieces around than they are. I can spend hours walking around looking at the sculptures and wall decor. It is another way to unwind and be in a quiet place. Most places or free or they may have a small fee. Call ahead to find out. Also, bring snacks, you may want to sit down and eat in one of their resting areas.

Other Things On The List

Picnic At The Park

Swimming At The Lake

Going To A Summer Play

Nature Walk: One thing I will be doing is taking advantage of all the free stuff such as botanical gardens, rose garden and anything Texas has to offer that will be a scenic view.

Wine Walking: Go ahead book yourself a wine tasting at your local restaurant or do the walk during festival season. It's time to try something new or at least broaden your wine palette.

Food Truck Hopping- It is something about eating a greasy cheeseburger or trying a lobster roll off a food truck. I will be googling the nearest one close to me this hot season.

Try New Foods: It is no secret I love soul food, fried fish, shrimp, greens cornbread, sweet tea, and yams. That is the food I grew up eating, and I have never really changed. I love to eat but this summer I want to try new things and learn about different foods. My radar is on sushi, authentic Mexican, Vietnamese and Pho.

Last but not least

Attend A Cultural Event: I live in Dallas, and it is a melting pot full of some fantastic people from different backgrounds and ethnicities. To be honest, I've never been to anything outside of my own culture. But, I have been interested in truly learning something from someone else who doesn't look like me, eat what I eat or celebrate life like I do. It is on my radar to attend new and different things around me. I am so excited about this and will keep you posted.

In conclusion:

The summer is here so if you have plans great. If not don't worry get up, get out and travel in your own city. Have fun and don't sweat the small stuff.

How will you be spending your summer?

Until Next Time See Ya In A Bit!
