Just Playing With A Few Things
Hey, guys, here are a few things that have been dressing me up this summer. And, yes, two items are out of my usual wear. But, hey who cares at my age, I am playing up and down my style.

Small Bits Of Joy This Week

Every day I am in search of the small things that bring joy into my life and those that are around me. This week has been no different, Rico and I intentionally did things that were less costly to our large family. It is hard sometimes but we make it work somehow.

Judge My Forty Something Style: Outfit

Dressing up and styling clothes is not complicated or is it? Do you ever feel like Alice in Wonderland falling down the rabbit hole when it comes to picking out outfits and looking your best? Well, I do, and it gets a little overwhelming when you are over the hill in your forties. Let's face it I may be a bit dusty, but I do not want to dress as though I am the first lady of the Tabernacle Church in Alabama. Yall I hope this place does not exist. :)

Discussion: Do You Prefer Date In Or Date Out?

What do you do when there is limited time for your spouse? And I mean very little time. Well, I have no solid answers because we all are different, but I can share with you how we unplan anniversaries and little date nights. Nothing fancy just come on in for your morning read.

Well, I have no reliable answers because we all are different, but I can share with you how we have little date nights, even with busy work schedules. Oh, but be warned I am not always up for the dressing in my heels and staying out all night long. This is where the battle begins for me and my better half. :)

5 Positive Things About Being A Forty Something Mom

So, here's the deal I was a mom at the age of 21, 23 and 26 that makes a total of three babies before the age of thirty. So having two more at 30 and forty-something was never in the cards for me. Nonetheless, I have learned life has a way of making sure I learn new things as I got used to aging with all of my children. This is a story about a woman (me) finding the positive about being a 40 something mom, the good the bad, sad and the overcoming of it all.

Hello and good morning Y'all. It is no secret I am a good ole' southern country gal. No matter how I try to set my roots to the side for the city life. It becomes undeniable when I step foot back in my hometown of Shreveport, Louisiana. If you have never visited this city, you should definitely add this to your bucket list as the best place to visit for food and unbeatable hospitality. Therefore I am adding it to my list of City Diaries and things to do when visiting the area we call boot city.

Oh hello Sunday, so glad to be here. Hope all is wonderful with you beautiful people on today? I am probably halfway to Barbados by the time you read this.
Ok in my dreams I am there. But who cares its Sunday and I just may be at my favorite Market right now eating pig sausages and watching all the weird stuff people buy and sell.

The Joyful List

The Little Joys Of Life
Last week I was reminiscing about my life and where I came from. I was thinking about those hard days some brought on by others but most created by me. But, I quickly had to remind myself how I made it through the fire, rain, and brimstone. As much as I want to believe sad days and rough times make people stronger and it should. I've come to a conclusion who wants to stay in an unhappy and joyless situation. Life is not all about sparkles and glitz, but it is about the list we all decided to create for ourselves. The Joyful List is about celebrating the small little joys in and out of life. I do not write on bits and babbles fluffy stories this my truth and my reality.

The Funny Thing About Date Night And The Budget

Life Can Be Funny

Let's face it, sometimes it can be funny as adults. You know those moments when we can laugh at the good and bad times. For example, I used to anticipate my husband planning a big and expensive evening for us on date night. Back in the day, it was all about flowers that I always let die, eating out and movies three times a week. Seriously, not even joking. But now...

First Time Making Zipper Earrings

Image: Woman wearing zipper earrings

Good morning everybody! Last week I found a super cute leather jacket that will go great with a pair of leggings in the fall. I know its too early for that type of talk. But, when you see a good deal at your local consignment shop, its best to grab it right away.

I couldn't find a set of earrings to match my new jacket. So, guess what I did? I bought all the materials I needed to make myself a pair of zipper earrings to match my original purchase. Ultimately, I can't say they are exactly what I wanted, but hey they look unique, and they indeed were easy to make.

Three Right Now Happy Thoughts

Positive Self Talk

Hello Everybody! Who woke up this morning in a terrific mood? You know that feeling that makes you hit the floor singing Oh Happy Days.
Well, I am sharing a few happy thoughts that we all can use right now.
I can not speak for anyone else in the world when it comes to waking up feeling bushy-tailed and happy all the time. But I can share my views as to waking up on the right side of the bed. One thing I have learned about life is that it does become simpler if  I push toward the beautiful parts of life.

Disclaimer: I am not a psychiatrist or professional, Dr., but I do have a P.h.d for spending many years sad and unhappy. So there you have it my street cred for being on the struggle bus, and I promise I am qualified. I've bought the shirt, worn it and now its time to burn it. Ok, I smoked it a few years ago. :}

Christmas In July

Image:Family Watching Christmas Movies
There is something brewing in the air, and it is not Santa Claus in the middle of July. What I do know is that it is 100 degrees right now in Texas, and all I want is a cherry-berry snow cone.
Nonetheless, I know you may be wondering what this post is all about, and I assure you have read the title correctly. After going to several stores, I couldn't help but notice Christmas stuff is hitting the shelves left and right. Oh No! I am not ready, although I could go for a little snow on the rooftop and roasted marshmallows over an open fire.

One Dollar

A Small Dollar Haulage
Is there anything for a dollar anymore? Whatever happened to being able to buy a six-pack of coke or a 16 oz box of lucky charms cereal for a buck? Yes, those were the good old days. In other words, I would love to find good quality items without always paying an arm and a leg and possibly a big toe price.
Does that make me a cheapskate? Sometimes all I want to do is pick up a few items that are not mandatory at the moment, but I desire to buy it. I stumbled upon some precious things at my local dollar hub. So, come on in and take a little peek

Something Old And Something New

Image: Woman sharing how she mixes old clothes with new clothing and accessories
I have no style, and I am the first one to admit that. In other words, the way I dress may not be worthy enough to rip the runway. I am cool with that because I am a  Southern mama who loves sharing the joys of family, food, fun, things I like, and frolicking in the city. So, that means I cant always dress up in the latest trends on the market. Nor can I shop as if I am a single woman with no kids nor responsibilities. Lately, I've been enjoying putting old rugged pieces of thrift items with new stuff I recently purchased. Let me be the one to say mixing up my wardrobe is not only stylish, but I've styled it to be a simple and budget-friendly way I desire to shop.

Change Is Good

Image:Change Is Good
Today I am sharing my desire to cut and color my hair.
Change Is Good! But why is change so scary? Why is it easier to do the same thing, eat the same food, or wear the same outfit day in and day out? Those are the questions I ask myself every day. Why am I so afraid of making new changes. Over the last few weeks, I've had an aha moment in my life. It required addressing my fears and dealing with the small things in life. For example, why did it take me six months to realize I wanted to change my hair color and style? Or try on a new dress that was entirely out of my comfort zone?
