Discussion: Do You Prefer Date In Or Date Out?

What do you do when there is limited time for your spouse? And I mean very little time. Well, I have no solid answers because we all are different, but I can share with you how we unplan anniversaries and little date nights. Nothing fancy just come on in for your morning read.
What do you do when there is limited time for your spouse? And I mean very little time. Well, I have no solid answers because we all are different, but I can share with you how we little date nights even with busy work schedules. Oh, but be warned I am not always up for the dressing in my heels and staying out all night long. This is where the battle begins for me and my better half. :)
So, we have a bucket that we put change in and extra dollars here and there. When birthdays or little outside date nights arise we cash it out and use it. We never use it in family outings, we only use it on our quick night out. It is not always used for dinner.

This is a story about one couple who works and chase four little and big people at the house. So, squeezing a short date night here and there takes planning and real effort to make it happen. When it comes to scheduling date nights outside of the home, I am not as picky as I am when I plan something inside. You can see our pizza night at home here...
Nonetheless, life is hectic at times, Rico and I have come up with a date night or gift giving a jar as I call it.

It could be something as simple as grabbing crepes and wine or just ice-cream. If it is someone's birthday outside the home, we use it to buy candles or gift cards. You will not believe how much money one can save by tossing coins and a dollar in a secret container.
A few weeks ago we sent my mother-in-law a gift card for her birthday. Not knowing there was no Cheesecake Factory in her hometown city Shreveport. So, guess what that means? Yes, we did a switch out cash for the card.

Eating out for us is not mandatory, we prefer doing things together or as a family. That way we can get a better bang for our bucks.
Our motto is just because you have money to waste doesn't mean you have to spend it.

That brings me to this next Discussion: Date In Or Date Out? Do you plan your date nights? How many times a week or month is too much?

Personally, I try to plan and budget a quick date night in and out of the house. But, let's face it sometimes life gets in the way. You know those things that require us, women, to change into our superwoman capes. Yes, family, life, cooking, working oh and building bridges with an occasional run the world every now and then. Yep, it's that serious.

As women, we have to do it all, and when our spouse gets off work, they are ready to go go go. :)

So, I am on a mission to make my life and others around me uncomplicated. As I am getting older a few times a week can become hectic.
Since Rico and I do plan out our little secret dates, I thought it would be fun to share with you guys.

Lately chilling in at night has become my favorite thing to do. The reason being is late movies and dinner I tend to fall asleep or get tired. I know I am making up a few excuses but hear me out, and by all means, please chime in with your thoughts and ideas.

The Perfect Date Inside The Home:
  • The Dress Code: There is no code of dressing when having little dates in the privacy of your home. No dress to match with shoes and no styling of the hair. The best outfit for the evening is come Pajamas and a cute headscarf to tie back the hair.
  • The Netflix and Chill: Seriously the best part of staying home is flipping through your monthly subscriptions on TV to find the perfect movie. It doesn't matter if the film has been watched over 30 times.
  • The Food: The entree and snacks can be simple, popcorn, kool-aid, and cold cut sandwiches. Literally, nothing that will cause for three hours baking or frying food in the kitchen.
  • The Relax Moment: We all know the true cuddles come when you are nestled in t home. One thing I love to do is grab my fur blanket and bundle up while watching our show. This is our talk time and getting to know each other more. Also, if we fall asleep, we never have to worry about being locked in a movie theatre. Needless, to say that almost happened to us one time.
The Perfect Date Outside The House:
  • Time away from home: Ok, let's face it we all need a few hours outside the home that doesn't require doing chores or chasing the kiddos. I get it, and maybe Rico may be right. Let's pack up and head out the door.
  • Trying something new, a restaurant, boat ride, or just meeting new people.
  • Time to bond together
  • Exposing the relationship to one on one time.
  • Finally, laughing and talking about silly stuff
  • Coming home late -no curfew
  • Holding hands and bonding
  • Just doing grown folk stuff
When it comes to dating, I am more interested in keeping the relationship healthy. As a woman its easy to become complacent in life. Doing the same thing, wearing the same thing and eating the same thing. And in reality that can be boring.
Although this is a great debate, I do choose sate in. I must realize my spouse prefers his dates out and about. Over the years I've learned how to compromise, and I see I need to readjust some things. Meaning just because I am getting older doesn't mean I should slack up on the things that keep my marriage healthy and happy.

So if that means dressing up and hanging out with Rico once a week, then I choose happiness and bliss over it all. Besides, I am ok with an occasional outing, but I think my next one will be planned right here at home.

  1. I have mixed reviews! I love a date night out but it has to be in the day time! Especially the early part of the morning! But love me a good home date night as well!
