The Joyful List: Taking Life Slow And Easy

Good morning Y'all, I am back with another edition to the joyful list. But, this time it is all about taking life slow and easy. Let me be the first to say I am never on track when it comes to laying low and relaxing until now.

Over the past year, I have been intentionally keeping a journal of the things that bring happiness to my life. When I was younger, I waited until something significant happened to me before I would celebrate.
To be honest, nothing significant happened often, so I thought. As I've gotten older, I am learning to embrace the smallest things that happen on a day to day basis. It has become therapeutic for me to keep a journal, and I love sharing it with others.  Here is a list of all the things that helped me take life slow and easy

  • I know this may sound a little childish, but I get excited when I find a good sale. This week I went to the thrift store and scored a few CD's that will be perfect for our family movie night. If not for the entire fam then they will be perfect for date night. Besides spending 5 dollars on gently used movies was alright with me.
  • August is a good month because it's my birthday month so that in itself is counting for my new joy.
  • I squeezed in a little time to have bagels with my two oldest daughters on Wednesday.

  • I managed to walk two miles on the treadmill. It has been a struggle, but I am counting my small steps.
  • Monday and Tuesday were the only days I ate healthy meals. That is an accomplishment for me, so I am excited about that. I am not trying to diet; my only goal is to start moving my body and choosing better eating habits. I fell off a little bit, but I decided not to focus on the failures. Let's celebrate the two days I did do well.
  • Also, I found one thing to except about my body, and that is I have big thighs, and I am cool with that too.
I am eating more at home. Trust me that is a big deal because I love Chik Fila and will eat it every day if possible.

  • Considering my work schedule was tight this week, I made it to my daughters, meet the parents night. Trust me that is serious because I wanted to go home and get into my bed.

  • I managed to plan my daughters birthday without going insane. Yep, I am winning
  • I added one more scripture from the bible to my morning read. Isiah 12:2
  • Last but not least, I have been feeling mentally and physically good. I know it is because I am taking better care of me and my well- being by taking care of my personal space.
There you have it all the things that gave me joy this week. The best thing about this weeks is my desire and intentions to find the smallest things in life that will bring me joy. I want to be happy so that I can spread happiness. Life is not about the things we have or don't have; it is more about how I deal with the tiniest aspects of life. It's funny. I can find laughter in almost anything now that comes my way.

Life can be challenging due to the everyday hustle and bustle of work and taking care of my family. So, either I buckle down and find my peace and joy, or I crash and burn from not stopping to smell the roses even when they are not present.

How are you finding joy and happiness in your life?

Until Next Time See Ya In A Bit!
