My Unpopular Opinions On Doing More Self Care: For Mature Women

Items On Board To Start A Do More List: FRom my crazy forty-something life. Items Include paper, camera, plant ,pen
Midlife Notes:
Who wants more out of life, and it doesn't have to be anything significantly big or exaggerate?  Maybe more of the simple things that we all need to be happier and filled with the daily joys of life. I know I want more out of my everyday lifestyle, and it's not about going to Disney Land, although that would be nice to do for the upcoming holidays.
But making a list and starting now is a lot simpler than meeting Mickey Mouse. :} So grab a pen and join me on Doing More, you may be surprised at my crazy list of findings.

This week has kind of been a crazy one for me. Every day is different some mornings, I can wake up with a sprint in my step. Other days I want to sleep seven more hours on top of the eight I've already enjoyed the night before. So, the first thing I want to do is add a bit.

More Self Care Habits
With the weather and seasons changes, I feel I am overdue for a self-care refresh. As women, we often stick with one or two of the same face cleansers and moisturizers. But as I age, I am learning I need to switch things up a bit. I think it is time to do more pampering for my skin. Lately, I've increased my water and vitamin intake, and in the past two weeks, I have been feeling my best.

Also, adding a bit of iron by taking Geritol has given me a big boost of energy too. Since the season has changed, so has my skin, I've gone from being oily to a mild dryness. So I need to scale back on products that keep my oil at bay. So, this week, I will be on the lookout for organic and sensitive skincare to help combat my dry and wintry skin through the months of winter.

I know there are other things I can do to help keep moisture in my skin, such as eating healthy and adding more fruits and vegetables to my diet. I plan to stay on track with those few skin and body habits this year.

More Time
With the recent time change, I am experiencing a sleep lag in my rest. So recently, when I come home after work, cook dinner, and help with homework. I have intentionally set aside time just for myself.  I try to start it around 7 in the evening, and I do not want to be disturbed by no one in my home, nor by my phone. I shut everything down and out. No offense to no one, but I am learning to listen to my body, and when I need downtime, I have to make room and space for that. When I take time out for myself, I can better prioritize my night and my next day.

Tip: Sometimes, I use my evenings to do nothing more than watch a good movie and eat my favorite snack. And I find that to be super relaxing and mentally stimulating.

What do you do alone to regroup your personal time?

More Hobbies
I am a big fan of people having a hobby. Everyone knows I love making jewelry, and I will never put that aside. But, I have added a bit of baking more at home when I have downtime. When I was a kid, my mom baked a cake, pie, or something sweet with dinner two to three times a week. So, I am bringing that family tradition of baking sweets back into my family.  Besides, it gives me another fun thing to do as a hobby with the girls. It is all about the laughs and fun, right?

More Romantic Time
I just recently scaled my work schedule down by putting clients closer in time instead of booking far apart. It has been long overdue for me to work smarter and not harder. It has taken me many years to understand working long hours is not healthy. And not taking care of myself is not good self-care. Yes, I am making money, but am I really enjoying the few hours I leave for myself each day.  My husband and I have been good about scheduling dates, but lately, our work has slowed that down.
Not to mention when we're both off on Sunday's I want to rest after attending church. :)

Life is funny like that sometimes one minute we have all the time in the world for fun things, and the next second time has slipped by due to daily life.

But, hey, that is an easy fix, and it can be planned right now. So, what do you guys think I should do this weekend?
Help me plan one thing, preferably outside the house?

Let me know below? Thanks!

More Conversations With Friends
I have been a little intentional in my life. Without second thoughts, I've been calling and texting friends just to say hello and let them know all is well. I don't get to hang with my girlfriends like we did back in the day. And to be honest, it is OK because ass a friend I understand their work schedules and their time is valuable when it comes to the family also.
Side Note: True friends understand. Besides, I have no stay at home mommy gal pals, that I can talk on the phone with and like pics online all day. LOL, they work, so we have to squeeze a little friendly gossip in when we can.

It's funny because we may talk once a week, but when we do, it feels as if we have not missed one day. So I intend to stay on point with the weekly check-ins with my best friends.
Do you have a buddy you need to text or call? If so do it right now:)

More Family Pictures
How many of you guys are guilty of taking pictures only for the internet, such as Facebook, Instagram, etc. I have so many photos on my phone and barely any at home. When I was a kid, my mom took pictures with a Polaroid, and we kept every milestone through pictures. You could find pics of my family and me on taped to the refrigerator, in scrapbooks, and hung on the walls of our home.

Oh my, have things really changed in my life. I've stopped taking real pics, and now I keep all our snaps on my phone. Sometimes my girls and I stroll for hours laughing at our pictures by phone. Although that is fun to do, I want to get back to keep real smiles and fun stuff we do in a photo book. So, this Christmas, I will be investing in my first scrapbook to start taking real pictures that we can have for generations to come. And I will be getting a lot of my pics from my phone converted into be placed into a picture format. I am so excited about starting this new chapter, and I encourage you guys to start scrapping your smiles also.

More Time With Jesus
Seriously, I can not get enough quiet time in prayer and talking to Jesus. With so much going on in the world today, I am taking my faith to a whole nother level. Without prayer, I am nothing, and I would have given up on life a long time ago. Before I ever knew scripture from the bible, I learned to pray, and prayer had always kept me amid my battles even when I didn't know or understood one scripture to quote. So, give me more Jesus any day, time, or moment of the week. Amen
Do you have a quote or favorite scripture from the bible?

More Smiles

Yes, give me more smiles. Life is not that serious, sometimes I find I just need to smile more.
The funny thing is life is not perfect, and it never will be, so I figure I better saddle up and find something to be happy about.
SideNote: All the things I  want to do more of actually can be done if I apply myself and set my mindset on doing more of the things that bring peace, love joy, and big ole' smiles.

So there you have it  My Unpopular Opinions On Doing More Self Care: For Mature Women.

P.S.  It can be simple things such as more sleep, more coffee, read more books, more bike rides, more hiking, more swimming, more ice cream, Less stress.

Yes, it is that simple to do more :)
