Style Babbles: Breaking All The Style Rules + Tossing Out My Old Handbags

Style Babbles: Breaking All The Style Rules + Tossing Out My Old Handbags.

Today is one of those days where I am up cleaning out my old handbags and other things that don't fit my style anymore. I made one pile for donations and then another collection for possible outfit wear. As I was rearranging stuff in my closet, I felt as though I wanted to keep all the things I moved to the side to give away.
Honestly, I have no real attachment to none of my items, but why am I tossing things out?

Why can't I declutter and find new ways to restyle my old pieces. By all means, I do know how to do that.

On the other hand, some purses I did need to toss out and not give to no one. But, I began to wonder has style become worst than being a fashion gal. Oh, please allow me to convey; my style is personal.

It is a little bit more in-depth when one is trying to rip the runway clothes. You know those clothes that the models wear and only the rich can afford.
I tried to order a peacock necklace I saw once, and it was 12,000 (swallow hard). Honestly, if I had the funds to waste on jewelry, I am not sure I would do that. I would instead want to help a family member or someone in need. But, that is none of my business, because people can do what they want with their coins.
Disclaimer: Now if the jewelry were to be gifted to me by someone, I surely would not turn it down. #realtalk

Moving forward when it comes to personal style, it is about compiling pieces that are affordable and make sense.

It is easier to mix and match a Target dress with H&M accessories. Because it is affordable, and most women can copy that style on a dime.
That is what I love about going through my things I can see stuff with an open eye. I can't tell you guys how many times I've tossed out things that I could have used with another item.

Guess, what I end up rebuying the same item all over again. That is not a wise decision for me to be doing that.
Image: Woman holding up handbag as part of cleaning session. So, I came up with a good solution for myself, and I want to share with you all on bits and babbles. I went to the store and bought a few containers for the handbags I plan to keep. I went through and tossed out the ones that had rips, bad stains and maybe I had no use for them. The rest of them I either hung up or placed in one of my new tight sealed containers. Yes, I will keep them tucked away under my bed.

After a few hours of clearing out my stuff, I realized there are no style rules when it comes to my style.

Who says I can't wear a no-name purse or a purse that is from a second-hand store?

Who says a woman has to match every single pair of clothing? Yes to wearing stripes and polka dots, yellow and plaid. I say we as women should wear the style we want as long as we can own up to it.

So, starting today, I am going to be more self-aware before I start tossing out old handbags and clothes. Life goes in circles, and I know my crazy style will always be in fashion because it's all mine. And I feel comfortable when I can wear anything I want even when it doesn't make any sense at all.

Last but not least, fast fashion is a waste of money. But the sustainable way will never go out of style; it just goes and stays on repeat. So, next time you declutter your things look closely to see if you can pack it down because it just may come back in style.

A few Tossing OutTips
  • Wear what makes you happy. Clothes are not what makes us as people but a mere expression of our being.
  • Don't toss out things before assessing them, once toss ed or donated your items will be gone for good. It's funny some items you may need to wear with a new outfit at a later time.
  • Treat no-name brand clothes just the same as if it was a 300 Michael Kors handbag.
  • Find new pieces to mix with old pieces. Remember handbags, and clothes come and go. But your style can be timeless.
  • Breaking all the style rules is Ok. Who cares because no one owns your style.
  • Look for deals, that makes you smarter than the average rich girl. :)
  • Find your true personal style even if it's weird and doesn't make any sense at all.

So, now I have taken a step back to look deep inside my closet. Now I have a checklist:
Do I want to throw that away
Can I restyle or reuse this item
Can I sell this piece or do I need to throw it away
Are these items harming me or making me feel sad
No matter how I feel, I know I need to stop tossing things out without seeing a new value within them.

The plan is to save money and buy new things when needed, not replace the same old thing I just tossed out.

Yep, I started today out with simple cleaning and moving out old handbags that turned into brushing off the dust and repacking down for later use. Since doing a spring cleaning of the items I already have my eyes have been opened to new possibilities. And I am cool with that.

Have you guys started on your spring cleaning?

  1. This post was spot on! I really need to get started on my spring cleaning as well! I find it very hard to let things go but I do realize that when it's time to bless someone else with it, it must be done! I also it bad tossing out things and then rebuying it! So maybe I do need to really think about the things that I am giving away!

  2. In these circumstances, you can pick imitations, which can be found at a bargain. Imitations are on a par with fashioner totes. You simply need to ensure that you check the nature of these totes before getting them.
