Where To Find Good Ole' Country Fried Chicken And Waffles In Dallas Texas

When it comes to southern soul food, I am the one in my family who knows where to find it and how to cook it in the kitchen. Well, let me just say us Louisiana gals know how to fry up some mean chicken, with a side of greens and cornbread. Scouts honor I ain't lying. :)
But, after moving to Texas, it has been hard to find a place where I can enjoy some real seasoned food,
I am no hater, but the south bayou is where any vacationer can find tasty ole' home-cooked meals that are seasoned to the bone.
I know most people think out of towners do nothing but complain, but I assure you that is not the case. So, recently, Rico (hubby) and I went on the hunt for chicken that was not the basic Popeyes.

We searched high and low, and not even the locals knew of a place that didn't require me to fly back down South.
Oh, but let me tell yall we found an excellent chicken restaurant with a motto: that says this ain't your mommas chicken place. Now you know I was curious when I saw those 6 words. You know when somebody says they cook better than momma, those were fighting words.

But, since I came to eat, I was not prepared to fight. So, I opted to sit down and see what the hype was all about.

Let' start with the menu: I fell in love because it had dirty rice, mac and cheese, fried okra, red beans, and collard greens.
But, I came for the fried chicken and waffles, baby!

I ordered the maple butter waffle with bananas and pecans with four wings. Let me just say it was beyond good.

Did I mention they make homemade banana pudding?

LoLo's Chicken and Waffles has now become one of my favorite places to visit for good down-home cooking.

Rico ordered the french toast with walnuts and bananas with maple syrup, eggs, and bacon. We both had their sweet lucy kool-aid.
To be honest, I could not finish all my food. My waffle was super soft, with a hint of crunch on the edges. There were no complaints at all from me. My husband's french toast was sweet as well, and taste like a warm piece of cake. I would recommend trying LoLo's Hood Classic and something of their desserts and drinks menu. Yes, that's how they spell and say their list.

I must admit this is my new favorite place. So, if you are close to one in your city, stop by and try it for yourself. :)

Here's To Happy Eating At A Lolo's Near You!

Until Next Time See Ya In A Bit

  1. This place sounds amazing! I love chicken and waffles too but being a California girl I know it’s probably way better in the south as you said.
