On The Road Somewhere Yonder In Waco!

Can you believe I have finally gotten a chance to hit the road and go somewhere yonder in Waco, Texas?

I promised myself I would not eat another bowl of gumbo until I go down and see Chip & Joanna Gaines Magnolia Silos, Eat A Few Cupcakes and just hang out with the locals. So, today, my husband and I are both off at the same time. So, I knew the time to hit the road had to be now or never.
That night I pre-packed a light lunch for the family and me because we always want to stop and snack on something.
What I Packed: Sweet rolls stuffed with honey ham, sharp cheddar, and honey mustard.
Water, Juice Pouches
Single Bag Chips
Apple Sauce Cups
Spoons
Donut Packs
Mix Trail Mix

Honestly, I packed way too much because Waco is right up the street from Dallas, Texas. But, I have to be a dramatic mommy and wife. :)
SideNote: Chip & Joanna Gaines are the stars of the Fixer Upper show. They live and have significant properties in Waco, Texas, such as a cupcake bakery, magnolia farms where they sell food and a store where all her books and items are sold. A day trip there has been on my bucket list for a minute but couldn't get a break to fit it in.
So, finally we made it happen, and now I am off to

Let me tell ya'll this road trip was shorter than taking a canoe across a small Louisiana swamp. We left around 8 am, and we were there no later than 9:45. If you live in the center of Dallas it is that quick, so I will be making this trip again.
I finally got a chance to see the famous Magnolia Silos, and they stand tall and wide off the ground. The site of them was breathtaking, and it reminded me of family, and home in the country.

I am not sure of the meaning of the Silos, but they are a big part of Waco and people come from miles to see them. There were a lot of spectators and picture takers, including myself.
Hey, I can't come to Magnolia Farms and not capture a few memories.

To be honest, I really came for the cupcakes, but I knew we had to try other things first.
We were going to ride the trolley, but we found it more accessible and better to walk because we could see everything we wanted to do and eat.

The day we went was actually sunny yet with a cool breeze, so taking pictures was fun and easy. Everybody knows taking photographs outside in the heat can be a nightmare. So, it was fun to catch a few family pictures.

The photo opts around Magnolia Silos was endless, and people were taking full advantage of the opportunities. Ok, and I was as well. :)
I must admit the city of Waco is tiny, no wonder the Gaines family calls it home. The character and the charm are all around this place. It is definitely a place for families to come out, eat, play, and do a little shopping. I wish I would have bought a blanket because people were lounging out on the grass, tossing balls and running around with loud sounds of laughter. Oh but don't worry, it was a lot of seating and cooling fans around.

The food trucks were endless, and the lines got pretty long.

Although I bought drinks on the road, I couldn't resist the Alabama Sweet Tea. I heard they claim the title of being the best southern tea around. And true southerners know their brews.
Good tea has to have a leafy taste with good ole' cane sugar and a hint of lemon for a twisted twang.

Now I am not trying to be messy one bit, but I can make a good sweet Georgia Brown jug of tea. But, since this is not about me, I will just pass the torch to Alabama sweet tea and just say it was Gawd!
The trucks change out often as I was told, but most people had a big burger from this food truck
My daughters devoured their Pizza and made me make a pinky promise not to put their picture online, showing all the sauce running across their faces. So, come back later tonight, and I will have it up...lol :)

I had to save the best part for last, I have always wanted to try Joanna's cupcakes. And today was going to be the moment I was waiting on. I didn't buy much from the store because we already have her book and a coffee cup we got from Target. Yes, everything in Waco is sold nationwide at TarJay except her pastries.

I am a big fan of eating cupcakes, cookies, pies, and cakes. So, I am no stranger when it comes to trying one or two from a new place.

I am just going to be downright honest, we ate so much until I couldn't really smile for the camera. Lol:
Before I could even dive into the cupcakes, I devoured a moist sugar cookie that was insanely awesome. Ate it so fast I have no evidence it even existed.

For the record, I thought it was going to be dry but guys it was large, in charge and super soft. I think I gave myself a sugar rush from eating so many sweets. But, hey, why take a road trip and not enjoy the things you really want to try out.

It wasn't a lot of things to do in such a small town, so we took advantage of the city and the food. Sometimes that all you can do and enjoy family, I got to do one of my favorite things, but that will be in another post. Trust me, I couldn't resist doing it at all. #staytuned

We spent all day in Waco, Texas, by the time we proceeded home, I couldn't help but enjoy the scenery all the way back.

From the old buildings to the country gas stations, that sold amazing fried fruit pies.

I should have known better than to stop and grab one of the softest and flakiest pies in the world. If you can for one moment, imagine your grandmother's baked apple pie than this one from the gas station would be a hit against your taste buds.

The sad part is I couldn't choose between the blueberry, peach, apple, or caramel one. After a quick taste test, I decided a hot apple pie. The funny part about these pies is they look like dumbo ears.
Now, this location claims to be the world's original fried pies, and by the taste, I can't argue with that.
I have to add this was the cutest little off the road gas station I have ever seen. If I were into that country decor, I would definitely have grabbed a few of their chairs that were on sale. But, hey you can't get everything from the gas station. Right? :)

Well, that goes my daycation on the road, and I hope you guys enjoyed it. Hands down visiting the Magnolia Silos in Waco was actually fun, and Yes, I would do it again.

But anyhoo, I hope to see Yall down yonder one day in Waco, Texas. Bye for now.

Until Next Time See Ya In A Bit!
