The Bit List: Making Summerrrrrrrrrrrr Simple

Good morning! This weekend for me was none short of making my summer simple and easy. Today on the bit list I am sharing all the things that gave me joy this week.  I am learning to take life in small bites and just roll with the flow.
But, first, of all, can we talk about this heat in Texas bumping close to those '90s and burning my bleach blonde hair, I see you summer creeping on in?
Image Donuts: Seen first on Bits and Babbles Blog. This weekend I went all in on the sweets, and I am so happy I did. My family and I had donut night, and I was three doughnuts deep before I realized I needed to save a few for the next day. Spending time with my family brings me so much joy, especially when we all can come together on the same day. Sidenote: We did not spend a lot of money because we cooked spaghetti for dinner, ordered our dessert, and looked at old movies. Yep, that's how I am creating a joyous life for my family and me. #stressfree

  •  This summer, Rico and I have started doing a do nothing date night. You know it is where we actually do nothing but talk and stare at each other until someone says, "What are we eating"?. Lol jk. The hubs and I have made it a conscious decision to spend one day together without the kids.
  • A few days ago we went to the park alone, and we even stopped at our favorite local cafe. Can you see by the picture how he is looking at me? :)We usually have a 20 dollar budget to play around with, but this time we shared a 12 dollar burger meal. How romantic is that? Yep, ya girl is winning with these summer outings.

  • Since I am a simple country gal walking around the city was right up our alley. Here's the deal both my husband and I work long hours, and when we can find time to hang, we run for the border. Making time for one another has to be the top priority, and it is nonnegotiable. At one point in my life, I was working so many hours until my days off all I wanted to do is sleep and stay at home. Over a while, my life started to feel as though I was in a loop, doing the same thing over and over and over and over and over. Sidenote: Why make good money and have no time to enjoy some with the family. That is not living to me, and I had to make a few changes. It's all about making life simpler by taking baby steps and doing the simple things in life.

  • This week I also bought myself some new make-up in which I needed. So, I took a portion of my morning and decluttered all the foundations, lipsticks, and clothes from my closet. I am a hoarder, and sometimes it is tough for me to let go of things I like. Y'all that stuff could be raggedy, and I will still hold on to it. I tossed out so many things that needed to go bye-bye. Honestly, I feel so much better because it made room for me to do more shopping.

  • This time I made a list of the things I want to buy and I went window shopping with Carey. So, my daughter Carey gave me an idea. It is so basic until it may already be a big thing on the internet. Anywho: I recently started writing down my style of clothing and what I like and don't like. As I am getting older, my outfits are changing with the wind. I mean sometimes I get dressed, and I wonder why. Seriously, my outfit choices aren't always the best, but I will slay in my jewelry. I am just saying you can't have it all.
  • Nonetheless, I spend a lot of time in the stores when I am shopping, and it causes me to become exhausted. Now I make a list just as I would for groceries. It is so easy, and I buy only what I have written down on paper. So, when I go into a store, I go straight to the dress section because  I only want a cute slip on to wear. I buy my accessories on another day, and this method has helped me. I buy what I want, and I spend less time in one store.

  • Another thing I have been doing a bit more of is being lazy when it is necessary.  I am not spending my summer running and beating the hot coals of the streets. When I need to rest and do nothing, I am doing it guilt free.

  • I took my daughters to the library to read FREE books and magazines. Hey, it keeps them busy, and we get a chance to bond with one another without being in the house.#makesummersimple

There you have it a few things I am doing to make our summer simple and less stressful. Making time for work, and friends is always a good thing. But, making time and memories with your family is still good for the soul. The moral of this story is to enjoy life and your summer by any means necessary.

Until Next Time See Ya In A Bit!
