Weekend Bits And Favorites

Good afternoon we are now on Sunday and I wrapping up my weekend full of bits and favorites. Yes, all good things must come to an end at some point. But not before I recap a few things that happened.
I can barely believe I've been off work since Thursday, July, 4th. Honestly, this has been the longest week of entertaining myself, the family, and others. Not to mention the heat has been a helluva mess, I mean scorching.
Ha, I've even been pondering the notion of buying myself a long blonde wig. You know the one I can wear in a high ponytail. But, I am afraid to place anything on top of my real hair simply because it is colored.
Anyhoot after going through my camera, I realized my weekend was simple and actually relaxing. Besides all the junk food I overindulged in starting from the fourth of July, barbeque, hot dogs, watermelon and chips.
By the time Friday came, I had needed a good ole' brisk outside walk with a side of "Girl, You Need To Pick Up The Pace & Run."

I got a chance over the weekend to walk around the Geometric Madi Of Art in Dallas. No matter how many times I visit this place, I still find something new to view in the halls of the art. It is impressive to see work from artist located from all around the world.
Sometimes, it is hard to choose between the New Orleans cultural art or the colorful pieces that move and poke out the wall.

The place wasn't huge at all, but it was full of art where I was able to sit down for hours and chat it up with my daughters.

This time I wasn't gossiping but learning something new from my eldest. I am almost ashamed to admit I just learned how to take a selfie by myself. Being somewhere where it was quiet,  we were able to laugh and also work on our computers without being disturbed.

When I want a little quiet time and peace in my life, going to our local art museum does the trick every time. One thing I am learning about life is: I do need to be in a big and loud space to have a good time. Sometimes doing simple things can be the antidote to stimulating the mind.
This has been one of the longest 4 days of my life, but I was determined to keep it fun and stress-free. Most of my plans were centered around trying to rest and relax; unfortunately, that never happened. :)

Also, did I mention I only have to leave a donation because this place is FREE! Yes, you heard me right FREE. No matter what is going on in my life hanging out at the museum with my girls has always been a happy and good thing when it's not much money being spent. :) Every year I attend the fireworks, and every year it gets hotter and more crowded than ever. This go round I booked other things in the city to do that was less crowded, and we watched the fireworks on our way home. Now, that was smart, and I am glad I planned something different this year.

Like, I said earlier I may have overindulged in my share of junk food over this holiday weekend. You know a few snow cones and donuts here and there. That is why Urban Donuts in Dallas, has to make my bits and favorites list.

I do not know why food and sweets bring people together, but it sure is the glue to my family and me. My favorite doughnut is the cronut because they are hot, little crunchy, and flaky small bites of sweetness. If you are ever creeping through the city of Dallas, Urban donuts is a must try.
Not only are the pastries delicious, but the scenery is absolutely amazing. Let's just say it is a relaxing vibe inside and out.
Most times, when I go, it is hardly busy, and I can enjoy my treats outside with family and friends.

Also, the outside space is surrounded by cars passing, and people walking to and from all the corner spots in town. So, sitting outdoors there is a lot to see and do in the area that only requires a bit of walking.

City parking has become one of my favorite things to do as well. Although I am blowing bubbles with the ones, I love and swinging on swings like a kid. I usually use my time to sit on a bench and read quietly by myself or get on the grill with the hubs.

Seriously, life is too short not to be doing the fun and the weird that keeps you sane. Although my daughters are much bigger, we still love hanging outside and running in the wild. Besides, what is life without laughter and reliving those moments that keep a family together? There is nothing more enjoyable than enjoying the freedom and free air outside. Yep, that is how we were taking life this holiday season, slow and easy.

By the time this week had ended, I was super ready to kick back and relax. I couldn't wait to get back home so, I could have a cup of coffee and wear my favorite slippers. Although holidays and celebrations can be fun, it's even funnier when everyone goes home. lol (no pun intended)
Sidenote: I must admit we didn't do the traditional 4th of July this go-round, so it was less stress being in the kitchen cooking and entertaining.

Last, but not least, I have to share one of my favorite snacks that is a bedside go to for me at night.

This may sound crazy, but after eating so much over the last few days. All I wanted was a big ole' bowl of yogurt mixed with pineapples. The Oikos creamy strawberry has been my late night snack for a minute. I love it with my strawberries and my watermelon.

Seriously, this mixture is quick and taste refreshing, not to mention it is a quick way to grab something to eat.

There you have it a few weekend bits and favorites.

Until Next Time See Ya In A Bit!
