Babbling Diaries: What's Happening Labor Day Amongst Other Soulful Things

So, what's going on Labor Day peeps. I hope most of you guys are spending time with loved ones or resting by yo' self?

By the time you see this post, I will already be in Dublin, Texas, eating my way through the countryside with no make-up on. My plans today are to be faceless and enjoy this last day with my family and friends.
Sometimes I just have to close my laptop and hide my phone from myself. So, I can eat in peace and give lots of hugs to the ones I love. Besides, the real country folk in my family do not care about me taking pictures for any social media postings.

What's Happening Labor Day Amongst Other Soulful Things : Babbling Diaries

My kinfolk want to laugh, chit chat and eat all day long. No matter what is going on when I slide down the country roadside, I have to make sure all my time and energy is toward the things that matter. #familyfoodandfriends

And what matters is kicking back my heels and listening to old childhood stories from Uncle Charlie. In which I must add, I do not like at all. Because they are always telling my most embarrassing childhood business.

Ok, to be honest, I do not mind it at all. In fact, I am learning to accept my country ole' skunk ways. Yep, I said that because for a long time, I sought to get away from the things that made up my happiness when I was living back home.

I kinda miss getting up and grabbing a bowl full of sugary cereal while coffee was brewing in my granny's kitchen.

I knew when I smelled coffee dripping in the kitchen my grandmother was about to get on the phone for some morning gossip. So, I would pretend to be hungry, so I can sit at the table and listen to all the madness old folk would talk about.

Trust me my grams knew everybody in town's business and honey I would get an ear full. Until grandmaw discovered I was eavesdropping, then I would get slapped upside my head. Ahhh those were the good days when eating and gossiping kept us together as a family.

And to be honest, I am going back to my roots in my personal and public life. I have a confession to make I do not eat healthy all the time, and it's about I just be a peaceful country Bama. Although I am out of town at the moment, I cooked before I left my house. Even though I know, I will be coming home with all types of pork rinds, root beer sodas, and donut burgers. Honey you haven't lived until you have had two soft fried doughts with a ground meat patty stuffed with onion, bell peppers and jalapenos topped with three thick pieces of bacon. Yep, it's that serious. And, I am never able to turn down my families cooking. And trust me when I tell ya'll granny don't play about being on a diet. If it is not Dr. excused, then it is not valid in the country. Health reasons will be the only way I could get out of eating real soul-food.
So, having a big butt and thick thighs did not cut the cut of excuses.

We usually come together for Bar-B-Q, but this time everybody opted for the lake and pot luck food.

So, right about now, I am sitting on the ground looking and feeling sweaty eating my way through the backends of Texas. And I will not offer one apology. :)

I know it will be late by the time I get back home tonight, so I am glad I finished half my dinner. In which my family will have tonight and tomorrow after work and school.

If you are wondering I cooked cabbage with onions, banana peppers, and vinegar. #yummy #seasontotaste

I couldn't resist cooking a large pot of black-eyed peas and cornbread.

A meal is not a meal without baked sweet potatoes piled high with butter, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla flavoring, white and brown sugar baby.

My meats will be cooked when I get back tonight, which will be smothered chicken and fried catfish.

So, I am about to get back to enjoying the fam before I get a whipping on my backside. You know old folk can't relate to this all this babbling and telling the business to strangers on the web.

In conclusion: I chose not to show everyone relaxing because no one had a camera up but me. But, these are moments I have to share. Life is hard and lonely sometimes, so when things are up, I am learning to embrace it. My birthday is coming soon, and I have been making some changes that benefit my happiness and growth in life. One thing I will share: I will no longer be counting calories unless told by a physician. Girl Bye! I am about to live in my own lane of life.

I know a few people have already noticed but if you haven't stay tuned. It's time to get back to the root of a loving life. I've discovered if I am not my true self than I can't inspire myself or no one else.

I have so much to share with you guys, but hey let's get back to enjoying this Labor Day!

Until Next Time See Ya In A Bit!
