Turning 48: Hitting The Reset Button And Starting Over!
Turning 48: Hitting The Reset Button And Starting Over!
How many times can one person start over? Well, trust me. I am an expert at hitting the reset and start over button.
It's that time of the year where turning 48 has really scared the jack in the box out of me. I know yall remember that clown that would pop out of a musical box when you wind it up. Yep, that has been me most of the year. So, today, I decided to jump on the blog and spill a few bits and babbles with you guys. That is what I do chit chat, talk it up and spill the beans on what's in my babbling world.
So, yeah, I hit the big 48, back in the day the old me would have been dreading having a birthday But good news, I am actually doing a happy dance.
Besides the fact, I have been eating tons of seafood and drinking peach tea. I've decided to sit down and have a little blog chat with you guys. There have been some good and hard lessons I have learned over this year. Some I should have taken heed and learned from a long time ago. But, hey, it's never too late to learn something new, right?
So, here is everything I learned and let go of thus far.
#1: I did hit the reset button several times this year. Things in life got overwhelming, and I had to turn from being a Yes woman to saying. No, I can't do that at the moment. For the first time, I allowed myself not to be afraid of letting others down. The closer I got to my birthday, I started to realize a few things.
- I'm not getting any younger, so it's time to let go and live life.
- I am no longer a size 16. Yep, it's time to accept my body has changed. And that is ok!
- It's ok to raise the prices at my business. The hair products have gone up for me as a hairstylist. So, it's ok to go up on my services by a few dollars. Surprisingly my customers were on board. I let go of the fear of giving myself a raise.
#2: Over 20 years, I've started my life over 100 times. Now that I am older, I still believe a person should start over as many times as possible. This year I stopped the press on a lot of stuff in my life that was just a complete waste of my time. But that is ok. Because a lot of the things I was trying to do, I needed to stop anyways. Honestly, I went back to the drawing board at least 50 times. So, I would encourage anyone to re-start now before 2020. It's time to go into the new with a fresh start.
#3: I stepped completely out of my comfort zone. I took a new route to and from work. Yes, I drove 20 miles out of the way, so I could see some new grass across town. And I must admit it was exhilarating. It took me 3 weeks to break my regular routine. I had to do it so I could see and do something differently.
#4: I also have stepped out of my regular style zone. No more excuses for not trying a new style, filled with textures, colors, and funky vibes. Oh, expect to see more all around the net. #comingsoon, so stay tuned! #looksoon
This year has been full of me learning and growing into the woman I am at this moment. Although I am a year older, I am living and dreaming again. And that is a feeling no one can take from me. I am finally living my best life. And living a good life doesn't mean having everything together. It just means I am living life now and at the moment.
So, if you are reading this post, get up, get out, and start living. I am cheering you on, and you do not even know it! :)
There you have it, I turned 48, hit the reset button, and started a few things over in my lane. No matter your age, what will you be redoing before 2020?
Until Next Time See Ya In A Bit!
