Giving Our Apartment A Reboot! Part 1: Tossing Almost Everything Out

Giving Our Apartment A Reboot! Part 1: Tossing Almost Everything Out

Giving Our Living Room A Reboot! Part 1: Tossing Almost Everything Out
Before all this stay in the house, blabber started happening. The hubs and I were smack dab in the middle of our apartment reboot.

You know it's just a fancy way of saying redoing or refreshing our tiny place up. Well, I must be honest; it has really been my idea, but a little arm-twist and sad face got Rico on board. Yep, you can bet your sweet Lucy kool-aid... I will definitely be the captain over this little mini-series. But, he doesn't know I am going to reboot the kitchen, dining area, and possibly our bathroom. So, this may be a little series of a few bits that will be taking place around my neck of the woods.

A little back story to what started this whole project in the first place. One day somewhere around being on day 10,000 of isolation. I walked into my living quarters and started tossing out everything that no longer brought me joy. Oops, I mean, the family as a whole gotta be a part of this joy movement. Ha! I gotta let them think they will have a little say-so about our apartment reboot. LOLOLOL I am so extra and petty as a wife and mom.

Although we were going to do a few of these things before isolation happened. But being cooped up in the house has me going a little nutty, so I am starting these projects weeks in advance.

Girl! Yes, I did it. I tossed out was our big oversized black sectional. Honey, we have had that thing since 2013, so tossing it out was long overdue. Don't Ya'll worry, I did it in an earth-friendly way by calling our local junk people to pick it up? They will dispose of it the correct way since I couldn't sit it on the curb in my city. You know Texas has some laws about acting trashy and downright low class. Ha! So, I had to abide by the law and do the right thing.
And, no, our sofa was not worthy of being donated; there were a lot of wrinkles and crinkles through it. Besides, I want something that will be in good condition, so I do not want to give charity anything I deem as raggedy.

The first thing we will be tackling is the living room area because that is where we hang and watch movies. I can not decide if I want to lean toward a traditional style, grunge, or a mix of my usual eclectic style. So, if you guys have any input, please let us know in the comments below? Therefore I will be out and about shopping for something old mixed with a few new pieces.

I have never bought plants before, so I am thinking about a few places here and there for a joyous feeling in our space.  Keep in mind I am decorating a tiny yet cozy apartment that has a Texas vibe, but I want to add some colorful charm.

One thing I want more than anything and that is to shop at least 80% second-hand or from gently used shops. Most of our stores are not yet open fully, so Rico and I are open to online shopping. As long as it's from a sustainable and used company.

The reason being I want to get the most out of our money, and I see no need to spend more than 1,000 dollars on a sofa set.  Besides, I prefer a character set that has possibly a vintage vibe and look. Possibly pre-loved by one owner and is in good condition. I am still on the fence about getting another leather sofa versus buying fabric.

Since we will start with our living room area, I will be on the lookout for new wall pictures, more pillows, and like I said earlier side table plants.

Since our apartment has wood floors, I may keep the same carpet or grab a new one from the store. Honestly, Rico and I have been looking at ideas for decorating our space. Yet we have settled upon absolutely nothing. But we both have agreed that this decorating of our apartment will take us longer than a couple of weeks to complete. So, this weekend I will be heading out to shop for a few thrift items that will add character to our space.

The places that are on our list is as follows: All Second-Hand and Gently Used stores. Some items will definitely be coming from our local At Home: Home Goods: and Target.

Other things I tossed out: Our family frames, any and all unmatching decor such as whatnots. Now, I did donate most of those items. As you can see from the pictures, our apartment is bare. So, getting it decorated is vital to us at the moment.

Any and all ideas will be welcomed. There you have it come back for part 2 of our apartment reboot. This will be a series that will take place weekly with shop with me, unboxings, and hauls in between. Thank you for being on my bits and babbles journey. See ya next week for more. In the meantime, go ahead and enjoy all the other babblings upon this blog.

Until Next Time See Ya In A Bit!
