A Yellow Midi Dress That Looks A Mess On Me: Please Judge My Style!

A Yellow Midi Dress That Looks A Mess On Me: Please Judge My Style!

Have you ever tried on a dress and knew it wasn't your style? Well, that didn't happen for me while trying on this yellow midi dress pictured above. Yep, I bought a short dress that may or may not look a hot mess. Trust me, I tried it on with four different handbags, shoes, and accessories, and the look still did not make any sense to me at all. I guess it's true what my momma always says. What looks good on the mannequins may not look good on you. Or will it? You be the judge. There will be 3 looks, so let me know should I keep the yellow midi dress or pass it on to donations?

The first look was paired with my thrifted cowgirl boots, big black shades, and a messenger bag. I must admit pairing the booties with the yellow dress really made it pop with style and sass. But, I still wasn't feeling the dress as a whole outfit. What do you think about these accessories with the dress as a whole? Go ahead, judge my style, let ya girl know.

The second look was kinda my favorite because I love black and white. It gives off grunge and gothic vibes. But with this yellow dress, it made me look like a Polly Anne doll, and that is not my vibe at all. So, I have to come up with another way to restyle this midi dress. But with this look pictured above, I went with a beaded purse, booties, and a chunky necklace. I felt a little better wearing this look, but it was still not my jam.

So, then I grabbed all yellow, yellow handbag, yellow sunglasses, and yellow shoes. Let's just say I looked like the mad hatter without wearing a hat. It was too much yellow going on, and I wanted to take everything. But, I couldn't because my girls were ready to go do a little thrift snooping.

In the end, I just paired my dress with a brown pair of open-toed shoes, my messenger bag some shades, and a few bracelets.

In conclusion: I am one who loves looking pretty in a pinch. But sometimes playing with clothes can be no fun. Since being in summer, yall know I am into nothing but dresses, and that has never changed for me. But, girl, you gotta know your style, what looks good online or in the window of the mall just may not be the outfit I should have purchased. Although I got this dress on sale, I really do think I should have left it on that clearance rack.

For two simple reasons: I do not see me wearing it for years to come. Nor do I think it fits my style. Now do not get me wrong I am going to keep it for now and re-wear a couple of times. But I know I will eventually donate this one because I am not feeling the vibe I want.

Do not get me wrong it is a very pretty dress, but I think this midi looks better on a much younger woman. I just may have to dress it up for the fall and winter. What do you guys think?

Last but not least: As, I am getting older I love playing in my clothes, its fun and I think its what women do anyways. But, I do realize what may be on-trend may or may not be for me. Therefore I can't wait to show you guys all the really cool stuff I will be rocking the remainder of 2020?

I know yellow is a tricky color to play with but I had fun with these few looks. Besides I must be honest I got stopped a lot while shopping from other women giving nice compliments. Although my new yellow midi dress may not be my favorite style it may be another woman's style. That is why I chose to share this look with you guys and I hope you will honestly judge my style?

There you have it A Yellow Dress That Looks A Mess On Me. Or does it? You be the judge?

  3. Yellow can definitely be hard color dress up but you gave some really good options. I love the first look better; the cowboy boots did it for me.
